Michael S. Malloy, Managing Attorney

Michael Michael is a business lawyer devoted to helping Mainers navigate complexity, mitigate risk, and seize opportunities in their personal and professional lives. Clients seek his counsel to:

  • start a new business or nonprofit, including selecting the right form of entity and structuring the organization’s approach to operational and tax classification matters;

  • expand their reach by negotiating contracts and acquiring assets;

  • make loans, either as lender’s counsel or borrower’s counsel, in major commercial transactions;

  • secure their legacy with business succession planning and estate planning advice; and

  • navigate some of the most significant financial transactions of their lives such as buying or selling a business.

Michael considers himself fortunate to have been educated at some wonderful schools like Xaverian Bros. H.S. in Westwood, Massachusetts, Middlebury College in Vermont, the Univerité de Paris III (Sorbonne Nouvelle) in Paris, France, and Suffolk University Law School; but some of his most valuable training was watching his parents build their own small business, taking his lumps as a blue collar laborer, and swimming thousands of miles in the competition pools of New England. He is a tech geek, an avid reader and skier, and has completed the “Triple Crown” of Maine Ocean Swimming (Nubble Light Challenge, Peaks to Portland, and Islesboro Crossing). He lives in Auburn with his wife, children, and that huge poodle you might see around the office.
